In 1969 Chris-Craft built 101 19'
Commander Super Sports, most with V-drives
and powered with the 230-H.P. Chris-Craft 327QA.
Late in the 1969 model run there were
several built with stern drives, which were powered with the
Chris-Craft 302FLV. For 1970, Chris-Craft made
several minor design changes, phased out the V-drive
option and renamed the Commander Super Sport the XK-19. The Xk-19 was built through
1974.
This Commander
Super Sport received a complete
cosmetic and mechanical restoration and was re-launched
on the St. Johns River in Palatka, Florida in late March
2014. In August 2014, the Super Sport won Best in
Show - Preserved and Best in Class - Other than Wood at
the 50th Annual Antique Boat Museum Antique & Classic
Boat Show in Clayton, NY. This Super Sport is the
first fiberglass boat to ever win Best in Show at a
large ACBS event.
